It is not that you have no talent.

It was wanting to do it well that stopped you starting.

The hand only moves once appraisal stops is why.

WHY IT STOPS

Why you can't get past this week

It is the order, not willpower. Learn how to make it well first and you grade your own work by what you learned. Then most people quit.

  • Learn the technique first — and you start grading your own work by it
  • Make the thing first — and you have something to compare with others
  • Open the senses first — with nothing to grade, you keep going

TWO HABITS

For two weeks you do exactly two things

〈The Artist's Way〉 has lasted over thirty years because the method is simple. We only shrank it to fit our circumstances.

  • Writing by hand in the morning — three pages is a lot, so start with one. The content does not matter
  • An outing on your own once a week — go with no purpose. It needn't be an exhibition; a stationery shop will do
  • Show it to no one — these two are shown to nobody. Only then does appraisal stay out

Shown, not told

15 min a day

is enough

For two weeks you do only that

We do not appraise

You need not show it to anyone

For you if

  • For those who want to make something but doubt they'd be any good
  • For those whose new hobbies quickly fade
  • For those who need somewhere other than work to bring themselves out
  • For those who want to find out what they like first

Plenty of questions, no doubt
